THE EXPERIENCE
THE EXPERIENCE
We believe that the single most important aspect of a safari for our guests is the experience. Yes, a comfortable bed and delicious food is important (because after all, you are on holiday), but what will endure will be those encounters you haven’t even imagined before you set foot in Africa. The options are as diverse as the continent itself, from hiking with the gorillas in Rwanda, to flying over the dunes of Namibia or feeling the low rumble of elephant at night in Tanzania.
Our many years of living and working here make it possible for us to design journeys that get under the skin of a country, its wildlife and culture. We favour camps and lodges in exceptional locations over those that are rich in amenity. We know the value of careful planning and excellent guiding – a successful safari is almost always about the people that have made it so as much as the wildlife you see along the way.
From long experience, we’ve found that it’s not only what you see but how you see it and with whom, that really makes a safari. A skillful guide can transform an “elephant sighting” into a marvel of nature by the information he or she imparts about that animal, its behaviour, circumstances and habitat. Knowing where and when to find the animals is one thing, how to meld you into their world is an entirely different talent. Almost without exception, the feedback that we receive from our guests, mentions the quality of the guiding as being central to their enjoyment of their trip, and of this we are very proud.
